This July Concordia Publishing House will be releasing The Real Story of the Exodus by Paul L. Maier. I am looking forward to reading and reviewing this new title as I have all of Dr. Maier’s other children’s books. Dr. Maier is the Russell H. Seibert Professor of Ancient History at Western Michigan University. His areas of research include manuscript and text analysis, archaeology, and the comparison of secular and sacred sources from the first century A.D. Dr. Maier also serves as the second vice-president of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. What I’ve appreciated most about Dr. Maier’s writing through the years is that he strives to tell stories in a way that is as biblically and historically accurate as possible. This has been a mainstay in his adult works and I’m glad to see he has maintained this conviction in his works for children.
