The kind folks at Zondervan Academic recently put up another selection of the Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary: Old Testament. This section on the Old Testament book of Daniel is written by Ernest C. Lucas (PhD, University of Liverpool). Ernest is Vice-Principal and Tutor in Biblical Studies, Bristol Baptist College. While I’ve only beheld ZIBBCOT online, I can say that these volumes and many of the other recent reference works from Zondervan Academic are visually stunning. The rich color photos and maps bring the context and world of the Old and New Testaments alive. I enjoy utilizing these types of reference works in my own study and am always eager to share them with my children in order to help bring the world of the Old and New Testaments alive to them as well. I encourage you to read through this selection on the book of Daniel and seriously consider making ZIBBCOT a part of your library. I’ll be making room on the bookshelf in my office in anticipation of hopefully acquiring this set later this year.
