Unless you’ve been totally asleep at the wheel, chances are you’ve read, listened, and watched as much controversy has erupted in the Christian blogsphere over hell during the past few months, much of it in response to Rob Bell’s Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell, and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived (HarperOne, 2011). I’ve noticed several articles and books coming out in response to Bell’s book and was encouraged to see that Francis Chan has thrown his hat into the ring with his forthcoming book Erasing Hell (David C. Cook, July 2011). A couple of the specific questions addressed in this new book are:
- “Will everyone be saved?”
- “Does God Get What He Wants in the End?”
I thoroughly appreciated both Crazy Love (David C. Cook, 2008) and Forgotten God (David C. Cook, 2009) by Chan and expect that Erasing Hell will have the same pastoral heart and quality content that we’ve seen from his past works. To get a more thorough feel for the content covered in the book, you should watch this promotional video (below) put out by David C. Cook. It’s 9 minutes and 42 seconds long, but well worth it. And David C. Cook, if you’re out there…. I’d really love to review this book.

great post. i really like his pastoral attitude where he encourages people not to pridefully approach the scriptures and fit God into their boxes but to instead try and mold themselves to who God is. i can’t wait to read this book.
