Ben Witherington mentioned earlier today that his recent book A Week in the Life of Corinth (IVP, 2012) has sold very well, which means the publisher has decided to move forward with a series of “A Week in the Life of” titles. This first book is quite good, using a fictional story and many pictures, maps, etc. throughout the book to immerse the reader in the ancient city of Corinth. Personally, I am quite excited to see books that teach through narrative gaining more traction as a way to bring a new generation of learners back to learning via the printed page.
Dr. Witherington also makes mention of a fifth book in the Art West Adventure Series (Pickwick Publications), which should be available in time for Christmas. This latest installment is called ‘Roma Aeterna.’ This new story will center around the bones of Jewish Christians, including the bones of a female apostle named Junia, which are discovered underneath the Vatican. Earlier books in the Art West Adventure series are listed below:
- The Lazarus Effect (Pickwick Publications, 2009)
- Roman Numerals (Pickwick Publications, 2009)
- Papias and the Mysterious Menorah (Pickwick Publications, 2010)
- Corinthian Leather (Pickwick Publications, 2011)
