In 1938, in the remote highlands of a mountainous island, explorers discovered thousands upon thousands of tribal people. Missionaries began to come, to bring the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Little did they know that many of the people of the tribes were waiting . . . waiting . . . for someone to come and help them out of the darkness of their old way of life. Witness Men consists of true missionary stories that took place throughout the highlands of Papua, Indonesia, from 1955 to 2010, when one of the tribes received their first New Testaments.

About the Author:
Vance Christie was born in Indiana and raised in south-central Washington State. Vance attended Grace College and Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. While in college, he met and married his wife, Leeta. They have been married thirty-three years. They are blessed with three lovely adult daughters and two quality sons-in-law.

Since graduating from seminary (with the Master of Divinity degree) in 1986, Vance has pastored churches in Michigan, Iowa and Nebraska. He currently pastors the Evangelical Free Church of Aurora, Nebraska, where he has served for over sixteen years.

An avid fan of historic Christian biography throughout his ministry, Vance has published seven books in that field since 1999. His works have been published by Christian Focus Publications, P & R (Presbyterian & Reformed), and Barbour Publishing.

About the Book:
On January 8, 1956, Nate Saint and some other missionaries flew to an area near an Auca village and landed at strip of sand that they had named Palm Beach. This was Nate’s final flight for he and four other missionaries on the plane that day were martyred when tribesmen attacked with spears a few days later.

Although this was Nate’s last flight – it wasn’t the end of his work. What he and the other martyred missionaries had done for the Kingdom of God convicted many to listen to God’s call to mission. And the work of evangelism continued to the Aucas too. Many in that village came to accept Christ including several of the men who had thrown their spears on that terrible day.
